Hi, I'm Maurice, I use he/him/his pronouns, and am an Adjunct Professor in the School of Education at CUNY - Brooklyn College. I began working with Proud Educators about six years ago while teaching at a high school in Brooklyn. I found the organization's mission of supporting LGBTQIA+ educators in being our authentic selves in our school communities to be uniquely inspiring. My time with Proud Educators has helped me realize my queer identity shapes my teaching practice in ways that affirm and celebrate the diverse identities of the students I teach. I have poured into the work of Proud Educators so that other educators feel empowered to become the kind of LGBTQIA+ role models they needed when they were students. Something interesting about me is that I write music and poetry.
